This is as close as I could come to the original format, which was typed with an elite typewriter at a lot more than 75 characters per line. The top line was done in big and little caps with the larger ones about a centimeter high. Everything other than the header appears to be typed. The packing list says that there were two instruction sheets, but I've only found this one (duplex printed) and the packing list itself. CarBak Camper Co. 1115 Twiggs Street Tampa, Florida 33602 Manufacturers of JIFFY CAMP PHONES: AMBULETTE 229-1559 CARBAK CARGO CARRIER 229-1550 INSTRUCTION FOR ATTACHING AND SETTING UP YOUR CAMPER Examine your camper very carefully before unfastening the snap fasteners and observe exactly how it is folded and fastened for travel. To set up the camper for the first time and prepare for mounting on your car. 1. Unfasten snaps fasteners around the perimeter 2. Lift the canvas on end opposite the window and remove corrugated shipping board. 3. Remove the straight tube (erecting tube) and fit the open end on the cast aluminum fitting on the bow nearest to you. 4. Lift the center tube about 8" from the bow with your left hand while pushing forward on the erecting tube with your right. The entire sleeper will lift into place with the front bow coming toward you over the erecting tube. When the locking lever approches (sic) the end of the erecting tube, graps (sic) it in your right hand and continue thrusting on the erecting tube with your left until you can engage it in the slot of the locking lever. Use the handle as a lever to force the erecting tube forward until the handle is parallel to the tube and in the locked position. 5. Reach inside and remove the dressing room and set aside. Remove awning bow, located along side of the mattress and set aside. 6. Lift out mattress, bumper platform, and mounting brackets. 7. With all of the loose articles removed, roll the sleeper on its side with the bottom side vertical. 8. Attach the aluminum support with two 1/4 by 1/2 inch bolts each, in the tee nuts already fastened in the base of the sleeper. The supports should be mounted with the center slots toward the center of the sleeper. 9. Attach the gutter brackets to the aluminum supports using a large washer on the bracket side and a bar nut on the inside. 10. Lift the sleeper with the window toward the front of the car and place the brackets in the rain gutter with the badge of the front bracket (sic) just forward of the divider between the ventilator and the window. Adjust all four brackets to fit evenly and tighten securely. Attach the gutter clamps and tighten. Next attach the bumper platform to the car. 1. Open the two hinged hooks so they are at right angles to the platform and insert the 1/4 by 2 1/4 inch round head bolts thru the platform and into the threaded top of the bumper hooks. Do not tighten, but leave extended so the hooks will fit around the bumper. Open the ground support tubes so this will be the outside support of the platform. 2. Place the platform on the bumper brackets with the hooks on the center side of the bumper brackets. Engage the hooks and tighten securely. 3. Take the dressing room and attach to the sleeper with the short top tube resting on top of the sleeper, and attach all snap fasteners. --------------------------page break-remainder on back-------------------- 4. Place the large grommets in the floor of the dressing room over the studs on the outside corners of the platform and fit the dressing room bow over the studs. Fasten the four snap fasteners on the outside of the platform and the dressing room is ready for use. 5. Take the awning bow and attach the back flap of the dressing room around it with the three snap fasteners. Place the tube ends in the small pockets inside the back opening. There are two sets of tube pockets to allow for adjustment in the height of the awning. Place the mattress in the camper bed. All of the end openings and dressing room opening have two way zippers to allow as much or as little cross ventilation as you like. 1. Remove the awning bow and place around the outside of the mattress between the mattress and the aluminum frame. 2. Unzip both end openings completely and fold flaps over the mattress. 3. Unfasten the dressing room and place in the sleeper with the top toward the front end. 4. Lower the sleeper by unlocking handle and pulling the erecting tube toward you, pressing down slightly to keep the end engaged on the center bow. It is a great help if someone can hold the front end canvas so that the front bow can fold downward easily inside the canvas. 5. Take hold of the center top of the canvas with your left hand and with your right fold that side inward while placing top center along the right edge of the aluminum channel. Both ends can be folded in this manner if two people work together in taking the camper down. Straighten the canvas and snap the ends first with the extreme snap going around the corner. Snap the side snaps, and the camper is ready to travel. 6. Unfasten the platform hook bolt screws, disengaged the hooks and lift platform from bumper. Fold the bumper hooks and support tube against the board. Remove the hook bolts entirely and reinsert (sic) to fasten the platform to the underside of the sleeper at the back end, with supports next to the sleeper base. Tee nuts are already embedded in the proper position in the sleeper bottom so that the tubing will be toward the back. Check all support fastenings before traveling. ******page break****** The next is the packing list... 1. Awning Bow (checked) 2.
